November 29, 2015 at 5:09 pm by JessRulzQueen Mathilde of the Belgians and the Duchess of Gloucester today attended what became the final match of the Davis Cup tennis competition in Ghent.
This year’s Cup came down to Belgium and the United Kingdom, and Scotsman Andy Murray defeated Belgium’s David Goffin in straight sets to clinch the Cup for Britain, after his win gave the country a 3-1 lead.

The two royals sat in the VIP box for the match, talking happily as the game progressed. The Duchess of Gloucester is a long-time supporter and patron of lawn tennis in Britain, and her support was much appreciated by the British team, who thanked her for her “staunch support” after the final.
