As many of his family members, Prince Ali attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK. In 1999 the prince presided over the Jordanian Football Association (JFA) , succeeding his brother Abdullah, who became king in the same year. Two years later, he founded & chaired the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF). In addition to his positions as head of JFA & WAFF he also served as FIFA vice-president for Asia until the elections held earlier this year.
Prince Ali`s ambitions & passion for soccer led him to run for a higher post, the FIFA presidency against the organisation’s long serrving head Sepp Blatter. But unfortunately he withdrew from the second round after losing the first for Blatter who won the elections. Following Blatter ‘s sudden resignation after few days of his victory , Prince Ali ran again for FIFA presidency in the elections scheduled next February.
