April 30, 2016 at 11:29 pm by soapstar

The Duchess of Cambridge is gracing the cover of British Vogue’s 100th anniversary issue. This is the first time that Catherine has participated in a fashion magazine photo shoot. The cover image shows a smiling Catherine dressed in a suede coat from Burberry and a black hat from Beyond Retro. Another photo has her wearing a red and black striped top from Petit Bateau. The casual images were taken by photographer Josh Olins and is a collaboration between British Vogue and Kate’s patronage, the National Portrait Gallery.

Vogue editor-in-chief Alexandra Schulman expressed delight at having the Duchess on the cover. “It’s a huge honour and incredibly exciting for us to have HRH The Duchess of Cambridge featuring on the cover of British Vogue and as part of our centenary issue.”

Vogue’s fashion director Lucinda Chambers with the help from Catherine, selected the wardrobe for the shoot that took place in January in the Norfolk countryside.

A spokesperson for the Duchess stated, “British Vogue has given a platform to some of the most renowned photographers in this country’s history. The Duchess is incredibly grateful to the team at British Vogue and NPG London for asking her to take part.”

Two of the portraits from the photo shoot will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the ‘Vogue 100: A Century of Style‘ exhibition. Catherine plans to visit the NPG, London on May 4 to see the images.

The 10-page spread can be seen in the June 2016 issue of British Vogue, which goes on sale May 5.Filed under British Royals
