March 24, 2016 at 9:38 pm by JessRulz

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the University Hospital in Leuven to meet with victims of Tuesday’s terrorist attack and the doctors who worked to save their lives.

The royal couple spent much more time than planned at the hospital, in the intensive care unit and then in the operating rooms where they were shown metal bomb fragments that were removed from the victims during surgery. Queen Mathilde’s face as the doctors showed the pieces echoed the feelings of all Belgians in the aftermath of the attack – shock and disbelief.
