King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands and Queen Maxima visited the region Kerkrade in The Netherlands. Kerkrade is a former mining region.
The visit comes as it is the ‘Year of the Mines’ and the 50 years after the announcement of the closing of the mines. During the visit, The Royal Couple met and posed with retired miners, greeted people who gathered to see them and King Willem-Alexander gave a small speech.
