Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, took to The Mall today outside Buckingham Palace to promote The Patron’s Lunch which will be held in June as part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.
10,000 people will attend the street party on June 12 – 9,000 tickets will be allocated to the Queen’s 600+ charities, while the remaining 1,000 will go on sale to the general public following a ballot. The tickets will cost £150, with charities being able to auction 40% of their allocation off to raise money for their projects.
“
It’s not exactly a cheap exercise. Fortunately our corporate partners have provided the funding for the majority of what we are budgeting,” Mr Phillips, whose company Sports and Entertainment Ltd is organising the event, said in relation to the ticket pricing, which has raised some eyebrows. Those attending will be entertained by a carnival parade, a procession of the attending members of the Royal Family (which at present includes the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry), and speeches honouring the monarch’s lifelong commitment to her charities.
