Princess Alix Napoléon is celebrating her 90th birthday today. She was born as Alix de Foresta on April 4th 1926 in Marseille, France as the daughter of Count Albéric de Foresta and Geneviève Fredet.
Her paternal family were loyal supporters of the house of Bourbon. Her engagement to Prince Louis Napoléon, chef of the imperial house, therefore came as a great surprise. The two married on August 16th 1949 in Linières-Bouton, France. Together they ahd four children: two sons and two daughters. The prince died in 1997 and was succeeded by his grandson Prince Jean-Christophe.
The princess takes a keen interest in the history of her husbands family and on occassion represents the family. She also attended the birthday of the Shah of Persia in 1976. At the time the press named her: ‘one of the two most royal ladies of France – Princess Napoleon Bonaparte. The elegant, lovely-looking Alix’.
