London’s new Crossrail link will be named The Elizabeth Line and who better to take a look at how construction is progressing, but Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II! The Queen visited part of the as yet completed underground structure at the Crossrail site in Bond Street, London today where she met a number of engineers, construction workers, Transport for London staff, apprentices. London’s mayor, Boris Johnson was on hand to announce the name and to give a plaque to the Queen showing the design of the line’s logo – the familiar underground design in purple with the name on a blue bar. Crossrail is the new metro rail line that will connect East and West areas of Greater London from Reading and Heathrow to Shenfield and will open in 2018.
